New Start-Up Kit Delivers Lock-In Amplifier Functionality to NI LabVIEW
NEWS RELEASE -- Aug. 14, 2002 -- National Instruments extends the power of LabVIEW with the new Lock-In Amplifier Start-Up Kit. With this FREE start-up kit, LabVIEW functions as a lock-in amplifier instrument, isolating and measuring hidden signals from noise inputs, and works as a narrow-band pass filter around a reference frequency to extract the desired hidden signal.

The new start-up kit delivers lock-in amplifier functionality in software with greater speed and efficiency than traditional lock-in amplifier instruments. The start-up kit can continuously lock onto reference frequencies up to 350 kHz and provide output filter values for every input sample -- up to 700 kS/s, a significant improvement compared to stand-alone instruments. It leverages mainstream computer technologies and delivers the benefits of ever-increasing performance, flexibility, and functionality.

Engineers can integrate lock-in amplifier data into applications such as spectroscopy, fiber optic, and chemistry with far more flexibility than transferring data from a stand-alone instrument. The kit simplifies custom lock-in amplifier application development for research, design validation, and manufacturing tests.

Combining NI LabVIEW and the FREE Lock-In Amplifier start-up kit with NI data acquisition products, such as the NI PXI-4472 24-bit, eight-channel dynamic signal acquisition devices, yields additional performance gains and benefits, including high-channel count, greater flexibility, and improved data acquisition. Engineers can integrate the lock-in amplifier functionality of the start-up kit with other NI hardware and achieve as much as
30 times faster measurement throughput compared to traditional lock-in amplifier instruments.
