National Instruments Next Generation Data Acquisition Software Delivers 100 Times Increase in Performance
NI-DAQ 7 and LabVIEW 7 Express Bring Unprecedented Ease of Use, Automatically Generate Code

NIWeek Aug. 14, 2003 -- National Instruments today announced the release of NI-DAQ 7, the next generation of the industry-leading data acquisition (DAQ) driver software. With NI-DAQ 7 and LabVIEW 7 Express, engineers can perform simultaneous operations 100 to 1,000 times faster than previous versions and take measurements with unprecedented ease by automatically generating code with the DAQ Assistant utility.

NI-DAQ 7 maximizes I/O system throughput with a multithreaded driver engine to independently control each device function such as analog input, digital I/O and counter/timers. Without any special, low-level programming, engineers and scientists can realize speed increases from 100 to 1,000 times when using multiple device functions or multiple devices simultaneously. The newest version of NI-DAQ also improves simple single-point analog acquisition speed by up to 20 times compared to previous versions. Other driver engine improvements include automatic clock and trigger routing to simplify synchronization, pinpoint error diagnostics in every software component and the ability to use previous versions of the NI-DAQ driver on the same computer as NI-DAQ 7.

With the DAQ Assistant's interactive guide for configuring, testing and programming measurement tasks, an engineer now can create a measurement application in less than 30 seconds. The DAQ Assistant works seamlessly with LabVIEW 7 Express, Measurement Studio 7.0 and LabWindows/CVI 7.0 to configure the DAQ system, automatically generate code, perform data acquisition or generation and then analyze and present the data. NI-DAQ 7 further simplifies measurement applications through a single set of multifunction data acquisition functions and properties that help create simpler, more organized code. Engineers also can use this new software to create virtual channels in LabVIEW and to easily move from basic to more advanced applications without developing new software.
